Police caution
|
Dear fellow Whoers,
How do I find out if my daughter has a police caution for possessing cannabis?
We're looking to book a holiday to Florida and she admitted she was spoken to by police before Xmas and thought he had given her a caution.
Nothing has been received in the post.
Is there somewhere online she can look?
Thanks 10th
P.S. No links!

Cautions are done on the spot or at the station no paperwork as I recall

Get her to take some of her stash on holiday with you, and keep it in her hand luggage. If she's caught, you will find it when they run her finger prints.
If not caught, you can enjoy some real father daughter time over a joint.

Make sure you recount this story to the US immigration officials as you are entering their country.
They are well known for their well developed sense of humour, and love to hear a funny story such as this.

Follow this link;

Do a subject access request online. Shouldn't take too long to come back. That will tell you definitively if a caution has been recorded.

You can apply for a visa prior to travelling rather than filling in the usual 'visa waiver' on the plane and if it's a minor offense u should be ok

She sounds like my sort of girl! Just go down the old bill station and ask
I've been cautioned three times for the same thing and always got in to America fine

And it sounds like she wasn't cautioned because they make it very clear that you are being formally cautioned. Unless she was really high, man

Did they take her stash then let her go with a 'caution' ?

I think the police usual just give a cannabis warning now which is just kept on record in case of further warnings I would just tell her she isn't allowed in and upgrade yourself to business class

You have to do the ESTA thing online now don't you. Comes back with a decision pretty much straight away. If it's a no, then you can explore the visa thing.

you cant 'think' youve been given a caution. you either have, in which case youre taken to the station, banged up for a bit, have your picture taken, have your DNA taken and accept and sign a written document saying youve received a caution, or a copper has a word with you and lets you go, in which case its not a caution. Ask your daughter if the former happened.

If she has had a caution then it won't be on any records. If she was issued a Public Notice Disorder then it's a £90 fine which would be on the police system. But you wouldn't be able to call up and ask if she was given one
